Coventry manager Mark Robins has called for action to be taken following midfielder Jamie Allen’s cheekbone fracture during Tuesday’s FA Cup fourth-round replay victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
Allen sustained the injury in a collision with Sheffield Wednesday defender Di’Shon Bernard. Robins confirmed that Allen suffered a depressed fracture and expressed his hope that surgery could be avoided.
Robins criticized Bernard’s challenge, describing it as “naughty” and emphasized the need for accountability. He urged authorities to review the incident and take appropriate measures against such behavior.
Expressing concern for Allen’s condition, Robins highlighted the unnecessary nature of the injury and emphasized the severity of the fracture. Allen, who came on as a second-half substitute, was injured in the final moments of the match, which Coventry won 4-1.
Although Bernard’s challenge resulted in a free-kick, referee Chris Kavanagh did not issue a card.
