The heartbreak struck Laurence Fox after his half-Kuwaiti girlfriend ended their relationship following his controversial appearance on Question Time, where he confronted an audience member for labeling him a “privileged white male” and accused them of racism.
In a recent interview, the Lewis star revealed that photographer Sara McKinnon, his girlfriend at the time, decided to end their relationship shortly after the televised incident. Despite the initial separation, the couple seemed to reconcile, as they were photographed together on April 22.
Fox acknowledged that the whole situation caused significant stress for his family. The actor, who had retreated from the limelight after the Question Time controversy, disclosed that he and Sara first met just before the televised incident in January.
Over the subsequent five months, their relationship blossomed, and they weathered the lockdown together at Fox’s London flat. The actor’s children from his previous marriage, Winston and Eugene, also spent time with them in the city apartment.
Despite the initial setback in January, the couple has been seen together at various showbiz events, including the GQ magazine dinner. Fox’s friends have noted his happiness in finding new love after a challenging divorce.
Sara, with her roots in the industry as the daughter of Emmy award-winning nature documentary producer Michael McKinnon, has become a part of Fox’s life. Since his divorce from Billie Piper in 2016, Fox had not found a lasting love, despite brief romances with Heart Radio DJ Lilah Parsons.
This love story comes on the heels of Fox receiving an apology in an out-of-court settlement with actors’ union Equity. The union had labeled him a “disgrace” in tweets, leading to a public dispute. Fox only returned to the public eye after securing an apology from Equity, emphasizing their joint condemnation of prejudice in all its forms.
In February, Fox announced a Twitter hiatus due to the overwhelming negativity he received, expressing shock and depression over the barrage of unpleasant messages.
