The Soweto giants could sign the 21-year-old midfielder at the final minute if they reach the Urban Warriors’ asking price.
The Chiefs are welcome to submit a last-minute bid for midfielder Asanele Velebayi through Cape Town Spurs.
The two parties have at a standstill because the Urban Warriors won’t budge from their allegedly R8 million asking price.
As long as their demands are satisfied, the Spurs are open to bargaining with anybody, according to CEO Alexi Efstathiou.
Cape Town Spurs have kept their door open for Chiefs to make a last-minute bid for midfielder Asanele Velebayi.
There has been an impasse between the two sides with the Urban Warriors refusing to climb down from their asking price which is reportedly R8 million.
Spurs chief executive officer Alexi Efstathiou says they are willing to negotiate with anyone as long as their price is met.
“Yes, of course [the deal could happen]. If there’s any team that comes and puts the right offer, we will seriously look at it,” Efstathiou told KickOff.
“There is serious interest, I can’t specify [which teams].
“Nothing has changed. That is what happened with Cupido, that’s what happened with Rushwin, that’s what happened with Chumani. So, I don’t see why it should be different for Asanele.”
Spurs have maintained their stance and Chiefs are left with a few hours to sign Velebayi as the Premier Soccer League transfer window closes on Friday.
If they miss out on him, they will have to try again in January or turn to other players at that time.
