The University of Cincinnati and the local school community are mourning the loss of a former player and interim athletic director.

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football posted to social media, mourning the passing of one of their former players.

“Purcell Marian is saddened by the passing of former Athletic Director and Football Coach D.J. Dowdy, the post said. “Our prayers are with his family, loved ones, and the Taft High School community.”

Dowdy was serving as the interim athletic director at Taft High School. He played at the University of Cincinnati from 2012-2016. In his 2015 year, he played in all 12 games on the year, making at least one catch in eight games.
