Nottingham Forest close to agreeing Eddie Nketiah transfer fee with Arsenal
Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing a fee with Arsenal for the transfer of Eddie Nketiah, while talks also progress on personal terms.
The Athletic reported on Monday that Forest had seen an opening bid worth £25million including add-ons rejected, having identified the England forward as their top target to bolster their attack.
Arsenal are looking for a figure more in the region of £30-35million and negotiations continue as Forest push to bring Nketiah to the City Ground.
The 25-year-old was ready to join Marseille earlier this summer but the clubs were unable to compromise on a price for the proposed switch.
Crystal Palace retain a long-standing admiration and have spoken to Arsenal, although currently they are not in dialogue to the extent of Forest.
Nketiah, who has been capped once by his country at senior level, has scored 38 goals in 168 appearances for Arsenal. He was an unused substitute in their 2-0 home victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Forest are embarking upon a third consecutive season in the Premier League and started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
Nketiah would provide an extra option for Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo alongside existing attackers Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.
The East Midlands team have also explored a move for the Santiago Gimenez, although their approaches so far fall short of what it would take for Feyenoord to consider a sale and the Mexico international has not agitated to make it happen.
