Newcastle United, under Eddie Howe, had a challenging season due to their injury problems. Their inability to perform at the same level as they did the previous season was blatant evidence of their squad’s lack of depth. The Tyneside club still lacks depth in the middle of their defense, despite having added two new players previously.

The Magpies are reportedly interested in hiring Odilon Kossounou to bolster their defense, per a report from Kicker. Although signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace is their top objective, they haven’t been able to come to an agreement to acquire his services. Guehi’s chances of leaving the Eagles are slim because Joachim Andersen is closing down on an escape.

Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen was seen by Newcastle as a perfect substitute, but the German team has deemed him impenetrable. Reports have therefore connected his teammate Odilon Kossounou to the Reds.
