According to reports, Newcastle United are interested in Lille hotshot Jonathan David. This season, the Canadian striker has seven goals in 22 appearances for the French club and has been linked with moves away from Ligue 1.
Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are both believed to be interested in the 23-year-old, who helped Canada qualify for last year’s World Cup in Qatar. According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lille will only accept bids of €60 million or more, implying that any deal would be a significant part of Newcastle’s transfer window budget.
United are thought to be weighing their options ahead of the January transfer window, with the club’s current injury crisis making long-term plans difficult. Both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have been injured this season, but when healthy, they have competed for the central striking position.
According to Belgian media, Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden could return to the club in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Standard Liege, but he is reportedly having difficulty adjusting to life in Belgium.
Hayden, who is under contract with United until 2026, could return next month, according to Sacha Tavolieri. “He has clauses in his loan contract that will allow him to go back and train with Newcastle if he wants to, so he could go back as early as January and leave Standard Liège,” he added.
