The Michigan football team faces Alabama football in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinals in less than two weeks. If the Wolverines are to win, quarterback JJ McCarthy must have a big game. McCarthy was injured in the final weeks of the Michigan regular season/conference championship game, and the Wolverines had to adjust their offensive strategy as a result. However, he will have a full month to recover before the Rose Bowl.

Michigan football has had a bit of a break since winning their third consecutive Big Ten championship, and it was a good opportunity for players like JJ McCarthy to get back to 100%. He’s feeling better now, and he’s ready for the Rose Bowl.

According to a Blue By Ninety article, McCarthy stated, “(I feel) amazing.” “After that little week off, I feel completely rejuvenated, and I’m just itching to get back on the football field tomorrow.” That’s the overall vibe of the team right now — just getting out there and playing ball and getting better. I’m completely fine now — I’m completely healthy. I’m prepared to go out there — these are the games for which you save your body. So I’m looking forward to going all out for this one.”

This is clearly fantastic news for Michigan. They didn’t need anything to hold this team back as they prepare to face Alabama.

McCarthy made his first start in the College Football Playoff last season, and he struggled mightily. McCarthy made numerous plays to get the Wolverines back into the game, and he and the offense scored 45 points, but McCarthy’s two pick-sixes were a big reason why they were playing from behind. TCU defeated Michigan 50-45 in that game.

McCarthy made several outstanding plays in that game, but his interceptions were far too costly. He must be ready to make plays in the Rose Bowl, but turnovers must be avoided if Michigan is to win.
