Groin surgery ends another Leeds United player’s season, returns to Thorp Arch – Confirmed

Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi has returned to the club this week after requiring surgery on a groin injury that has ended his season prematurely.

Preparations are underway for Leeds’ away trip to Watford this Friday where they will be looking to consolidate their place in the top two.

What hasn’t helped Daniel Farke’s side in gearing up for that clash has been the injury setbacks confirmed today.

Midfielder Darko Gyabi left the club on loan in January to join Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the campaign, and looked to be growing into a more attacking role under Ian Foster, despite the Pilgrims’ relegation trouble.

However, Foster’s press conference today revealed that the midfielder is out for the season, as he said this (via the Plymouth Herald):

Gyabi was crying out for a loan away from Leeds in January, and had been a regular in the Plymouth lineup up until this point.

His more recent outings under Foster have seen him adopt a very attacking role, playing on the left side of an attacking trio, getting an assist away at Middlesbrough in the process.

Gyabi hadn’t exactly set the world alight with Plymouth during his two-month spell there, but he was showing promise that he could take to a Championship starting role well.

However, that momentum has been quashed with this setback that now has him looking to pre-season once again to build up his form.

It’s hard to know what the future holds for Gyabi at this moment in time, given that we’re yet to see the promise, while he hasn’t had any chances to show it.
