Soccernet.ng reports that Wilfred Ndidi, a defensive midfielder for the Super Eagles, is Galatasaray’s first pick among midfielders to take Tansguy Ndombele, a loanee of Tottenham Hotspur.
Ndombele, 26, moved from Olympique Lyonnais to Tottenham Hotspur following a UEFA Champions League run that saw them overtake major clubs, but the Frenchman’s transfer hasn’t gone as planned.
After signing with Spurs, Ndombele went on loan to Napoli with a buyout option. He then traveled to Turkey to play for Galatasaray, but the club decided not to purchase him after just six months of the agreement.
Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is Cim Bom’s top pick to take the place of the out-of-favor former Lyon midfielder at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi, according to Turkish publication Milliyet.
Ndidi’s current deal with The Foxes expires in June 2024, and since negotiations over a new deal have not yet started with the Leicester management, the player is free to sign a pre-contract in January with any team.
Nonetheless, the report claims that Galatasaray plans to pursue the Nigerian during the winter transfer window because other teams are also considering the Super Eagles international.
Last summer, Galatasaray came dangerously close to completing Ndidi’s transfer, but their offer for the midfield player was lower than Leicester City’s.
Ndidi has recovered under Enzo Maresca, stepping up as a box-to-box midfielder and supporting Leicester in their bid to move up to the English premier league.
