Four-time NBA champion John Salley, who earned his final ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, feels that LeBron James is simply doing more harm to the league than good by continuing to play for over 20 years as a superstar.

In a recent interview with VladTV, Salley,59, asserted that when one of the league’s top players ages, it hurts advertising. According to him, athletes should only play for ten years or such.

“It’s not good for the league to have old players still hanging around,” stated Salley. “detracts from the commercial. You’re not attempting to sell LeBrons; rather, you’re trying to sell Ja Morant footwear.”

Salley continued by drawing comparisons between Tiger Woods’ lifespan and that of LeBron James, who recently achieved a new high in rebounding and is eager to play with or against his son Bronny, who is slated to make his NBA debut in a year.

“Nike had to get rid of Nike Golf…” stated Salley. Tiger Woods was terrific for them, but one of the fresh, up-and-coming kids is going to say, ‘I want some Tiger Woods.’ They had to come back to their core, so they had to abandon things that weren’t making them, they couldn’t.” No, they will accept the new guy as he is. In sports as in business, once you’re in, you’re out. You are fortunate if you live for ten years.”
