Sad News: Michigan Wolverines Running Back CJ Stokes Passes Away…
Tragic Update: The untimely passing of CJ Stokes, a sophomore running back for the Michigan Wolverines, has left the sports community in shock. Stokes, who recently entered the transfer portal, had only participated in two games this season due to undisclosed injuries that had plagued him since his last appearance on Sept. 9 against the UNLV Rebels. During this limited playtime, Stokes managed four rushing attempts for eight yards (2.0 yards per carry) and did not receive any passes.
Despite his decision to transfer, influenced by his bit-part role in the previous season, Stokes aimed to utilize the 2023 season as a redshirt year in his new endeavors. Over his two-year college football career, he accumulated 59 carries for 281 yards (4.8 yards per attempt), securing one rushing touchdown, and making a 15-yard reception.
It was on Dec. 11 that Michigan witnessed its first scholarship player, Stokes, enter the transfer portal, indicating his desire for more playing time. Typically, when a player enters the portal, they part ways with their current team, regardless of the team’s standing in the season.
