Raiders owner Mark Davis just delivered an early Christmas present for the fan base during terrible 2024 season

The Las Vegas Raiders made a conscious effort to give Antonio Pierce a chance this year after seeing what he did with the interim tag on his name last year. With him, they brought in a new general manager, Tom Telesco. Now, let’s keep it real: Pierce hasn’t been great in his role, but Telesco has.

Pierce is still messing up coaching situations he should have down by now like game and clock management. Obviously, being that he’s 2-11 now in 2024, and it’s his team, he’s the head coach, so he’s the main one at fault because that’s just how the dice roll, I would say he has failed in his first year as a head coach. But, it’s okay because that has allowed the Raiders to be in a prime position to finally get their quarterback of the future.

And that’s where Telesco comes in. That’s his next big task. This is something he has to ace. If he gets this move wrong, this could be the end of his time in Las Vegas. But, there is no mandate for him to draft a quarterback, as odd as that sounds.

“You’d have to talk to Tom Telesco,” Raiders owner Mark Davis said when The Atheltic’s Tashan Reed asked about a QB being taken in round one. “And, of course, Tom Brady at some point will have something to say about that.”

The Raiders have to get a quarterback, no matter what happens. The only way it’s even close to being acceptable that they don’t get one is if they draft Travis Hunter, who looks to be a generational talent. Even then I’d still think the Raiders would be tired of doing the whole “bridge QB” thing they have done the last two years with Jimmy Garoppolo and now Gardner Minshew.

So, we will see what happens but the fact that Davis said Tom Brady would have a say in the decision, should be an early Christmas present for Raiders fans because now they not only feel like they won’t mess up the decision but that they will definitely get a good quarterback, because that’s all Brady knows.

The Raiders are set to play the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football after coming off of a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After that game, they will play the Jacksonville Jaguars, another team vying for that No. 1 overall pick, so they must lose that game.
