Houston, TX – In a shocking turn of events, three Houston Texans players have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred outside a nightclub early Sunday morning.
Linebacker, Javante Griffin, 25, wide receiver, DeAndre Thompson, 27, and defensive end, Michael Mitchell, 29, were taken into custody by Houston Police Department officials.
According to authorities, the incident occurred when an altercation broke out between the players and a group of individuals outside the nightclub. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and one victim, identified as 28-year-old Juan Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We are deeply disturbed by the allegations and take these charges very seriously,” said Houston Texans Chairman and CEO, Cal McNair. “We will cooperate fully with the investigation and take appropriate action.”
The players are being held without bond and face charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm.
The NFL has released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and will monitor the ongoing investigation.”
