Harry Souttar, a defender for Leicester City, appears to be on his way out of the King Power after being left out of the starting lineup for Friday’s preseason friendly against Palermo.
After winning the Championship title the previous season, the Foxes have had a difficult summer
as they have lost both manager Enzo Maresca and standout player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.
In order to give themselves the best opportunity of surviving, the team added additional players to their roster and recruited former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper as their new manager.
Caleb Okoli, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Michael Golding, and other players have joined the Foxes, while winger Issahaku Fatawu has made the transfer from Sporting Lisbon permanent on a loan.
Souttar, an Australian international, is one of the players who is expected to depart the King Power, though.
The defender played in the first two games against Villarreal and Shrewsbury, but was left out of the squad for the pre-season friendly against Palermo.
The 25-year-old may be about to go on loan from the team, according to reports, and a number of Championship teams are reportedly keen. Sheffield United and Souttar’s previous team Stoke are reportedly leading the chase.
After spending £15 million to join Leicester from Stoke in January 2023, the Australian played in 12 Premier League games but was unable to prevent the club’s relegation under Brendan Rodgers.
Souttar only made four appearances across all competitions under Maresca’s leadership the previous season due to lack of favoritism.
It looks like Souttar’s future is at least temporarily away from the King Power, even with the appointment of a new management. With Okoli’s arrival, he will have probably fallen even farther down the hierarchy.
