Reports: Kentucky contacts transfers Baba Miller and Kris Parkertwo
New Kentucky head coach Mark Pope remains busy making contact with prospects in the transfer portal as he looks to fill out his debut Wildcat roster.
Florida State transfer forward Baba Miller has been contacted by Kentucky per a report from On3’s Joe Tipton. Per Tipton, an assistant from Kentucky, was the one to make contact with Miller rather than Pope. Pope and UK have yet to formally announce any staff hires.
Meanwhile, Alabama transfer guard Kris Parker told Recruits Zone he also heard from Kentucky.
Miller was a four-star high school prospect out of Spain in 2022 and signed with former UK assistant Leonard Hamilton and the Seminoles. As a freshman during the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-11 forward played in 15 games and made two starts. On the year, he averaged 4.3 points per game, 3.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three.
This past season, he earned an increased role as he started 32 of the 33 games he played in and averaged 24.7 minutes of playing time. Miller averaged 7.8 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field, 29.3 percent from three and 55.7 percent from the free throw line.
He scored a season-high 14 points in a win over Wake Forest and logged a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to USF.
Miller is currently ranked the transfer portal’s 97th best player and 15th best center. Ryan Gilbert of 247sports’ GoPowerCat has logged a crystal ball for the Spain native to land at Kansas State. He’ll have two years remaining of eligibility at his next school.
Parker, a 6-foot-9 guard redshirted at Alabama this past season as a true freshman and will have four years of eligibility to use at his next school. The Tallahassee, Florida native averaged 24.8 points, 14.2 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 2.4 blocks per game during his senior year at Crossroad Academy in Quincy, Florida.
Since entering the transfer portal, Recruits Zone reports he has also heard from Illinois, UCF, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Oregon, Memphis, Maryland, Miami, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Tulsa, Marshall, FAU, Fresno State, San Diego State, UTSA, Arkansas State, Kennesaw State, and Georgia State.
