The Steelers have signed Russell Wilson, a former Pro Bowl quarterback. He made the announcement via Twitter/X.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is team-friendly. He is likely to contend with Kenny Pickett for the starting position next season.
Wilson completed nearly 67% of his throws for Denver last season, totaling 26 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. The fit is quite intuitive.
Pittsburgh finished 10-7 last season despite not having a consistent quarterback. Instead of standing pat, they sign a nine-time Pro Bowler who was effective last season.
The AFC North is already the most competitive division in the NFL. The veteran isn’t flawless, but the Steelers have a great culture and only require competent quarterback play. There is no reason Wilson shouldn’t be an upgrade for the Steelers.
