The Baltimore Ravens and Justin Madubuike have agreed on a four-year contract extension, the organization announced Friday.
“We are pleased to announce a four-year extension with Justin Madubuike,” General Manager Eric DeCosta said. “Justin is one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL and a cornerstone of our defense. We are thrilled for Justin and his family, as well as for our fan base. “This is an excellent way to begin the new league season.”
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the contract is for $98 million, with $73.5 million guaranteed and $53.5 million due upon signing.The organization hoped to negotiate an agreement with Madubuike and prevented him from testing the free agent market by using the franchise tag earlier this week.
The long-term pact will likely relieve some of the Ravens’ salary limit pain by reducing the tag’s $22 million cost for the 2024 season.
Madubuike, 26, played all 17 games for the Ravens in 2023, totaling 56 tackles, 13 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 33 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles, earning him his first Pro Bowl selection and second-team All Pro honors.
Last season, he led all NFL defensive tackles and the Ravens with 13 sacks.
