While their new home in Evanston is being built, the Wildcats will play the Ohio State Buckeyes at Wrigley Field, according to two beat journalists from Northwestern.

Next season, the Ohio State Buckeyes will play in one of sports’ most historic locations.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Northwestern Wildcats and Buckeyes are scheduled to play at Wrigley Stadium. The Chicago Cubs’ present stadium will be used as one of the Wildcats’ practice fields while their new home stadium is being constructed.

“Northwestern is still exploring options for where the team will play next season,” the university said in a statement. “At this time, contracts with venues are still being finalized and we will share information with you as soon as possible.”

After the 2023 season ended, Ryan Field—Northwestern’s longtime home—was razed. When it was first constructed in 1926, it was known as “Dyche Field.” The Wildcats played 1,302 games at the location, compiling a 556-702-44 record.

When it reopens in 2026, Ryan Field will rank among the most advanced athletic facilities for college football. The stadium can accommodate concerts and other events outside of athletics in addition to being the home of Wildcats football.

Northwestern University’s renderings of the new stadium feature numerous digital banners and videoboards encircling the pitch, in addition to a fan gathering space outside the gates.

With the exception of a section of a roof covering some of the seats toward the top of the higher level, the stadium will be open.
