Chirewa had previously made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Brentford, showcasing his skills after standing out in the under-21s and spending some matches as an unused substitute.
Wolves’ head coach, Gary O’Neil, expressed satisfaction with Chirewa’s performance, emphasizing the significance of achieving a debut in a talented squad. The young player had left Ipswich Town for Molineux, rejecting a new contract, and the club received a compensation fee for his transfer. Chirewa had made three appearances for Ipswich Town, making his debut at the age of 16 years and 31 days, becoming the club’s second-youngest first-team player, just behind Connor Wickham.
