Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says midfielder Massimo Luongo will have scans on his injured ankle in the coming week.

With the Blues already missing super skipper Sam Morsy (two-game suspension), the Australian was an unexpected absentee from the starting lineup against Sunderland last night.

Following the Blues’ comeback 2-1 victory, the Town manager revealed that Luongo was injured in training last week.

“He rolled his ankle in a really unfortunate incident on Thursday,” he told reporters.

“He will have scans this week to determine the severity.

“We hope it isn’t too severe. There is certainly some swelling, but he was nowhere near it tonight.”
