According to reports in Portugal, Leicester City is one of the clubs interested in Gil Vicente defender Gabriel Pereira.
Today’s edition of O Jogo includes a lengthy piece about the pursuit of the centre-back, with the reason being that FC Porto is also interested in signing him.
The Dragons, who recently released David Carmo, are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, and Gabriel is said to be on their radar.
O Jogo goes on to say that while Porto is in a ‘good position’ to sign him, he will face competition from Leicester City, Real Betis, and CSKA Moscow.
That’s all the newspaper has to say for now, without saying whether any of those clubs have made a bid for the signing, only that Porto have an advantage.
Gabriel joined Gil Vicente in January this year for €650k and is now valued at €1.5m by Transfermarkt.
Leicester City would undoubtedly have the resources to make such a signing, but we’ll have to wait and see how their interest develops.
