According to The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers had a £15 million bid for Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe rejected in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
This bid came after the 20-year-old had an excellent start to the season, scoring in each of the Canaries’ first four league games of 2023/24 and grabbing an assist in his fifth.
He has been able to back up his early season performance, with his brace against Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon potentially allowing him to generate more interest ahead of the January window.
Following the Canaries’ failure to mount a serious promotion push last season, it was unsurprising when they sold some of their key players, including Max Aarons and Andrew Omobamidele, with the proceeds allowing them to make some solid signings at Carrow Road.

However, they decided to keep Rowe, which could keep their promotion hopes alive, with David Wagner’s side currently sitting in 10th place despite struggling at times this season.
The Sun reports that they are bracing for increased interest in the 20-year-old during the winter window, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to keep him.
Rowe’s current contract will expire in the summer of 2025.
That isn’t disastrous, but they would have preferred to keep him confined for a much longer period of time because it would have given them more control over his future.
A sale in the next few windows looks likely unless they can tie him down to new terms – because the Canaries won’t want to risk losing him for nothing.
Because players with two years left on their contracts often attract high bids, the previous window would have been a good time to cash in on him.
A £15 million bid for Rowe is a sizable sum, and one that the Canaries must have considered.
