After Newcastle United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup last night, Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk sent a classy message to Kieran Trippier. Eddie Howe’s men were 90 seconds away from advancing to the competition’s semi-finals when Trippier’s error allowed Mudryk to equalize in the 92nd minute and send the game to penalties.
The Blues won the shootout 4-2 after Trippier and Matt Ritchie both missed penalty kicks. Mudryk also showed his support for Trippier on a difficult evening.
“Kieran, I just wanna say to you: stay strong,” the Ukrainian wrote on his Instagram story. Sometimes —- happens, but I believe you are a strong footballer regardless.”
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said after his team’s victory, “I am so pleased, and the players deserve some credit.”
“We didn’t deserve to concede the way we did, and it can affect any team.” We responded extremely well and dominated the game against a very good Newcastle team. Then we keep pushing in the second half, make some adjustments, and, of course, try to make an impact on the team.
